Choosing Your Small Shed Plans
Many people avoid building sheds because they assume they need to be large structures and many do not want to
lose any of their valuable backyard space. Thankfully, the size of shed you need is directly proportional to the
amount of stuff that you want to store inside of it, or the purpose for which the shed is intended.
A wood shed, for instance, can be relatively small, while a tool shed or a quiet crafting getaway might need to
be quite large. Usually, if you are creative you can find small shed plans that will tell you how to build a shed
that looks small, but stores a lot.
The best way to decide the size of your shed is to gather together everything that you want to store inside of
it once the shed is built. Add some space for you to stand in and this will tell you how big or small your shed
will need to be. If you are concerned with how large it might be, you can save space by using sideways sliding
doors instead of a traditional swinging door to help you gain access to the materials that the shed is housing.
Another way to save space is to designate the shed for something specific. If you want to build a storage shed
but do not want to build a large one, you can designate your shed for something specific: a gardening shed, a tool
shed, a potting shed or a small children's playhouse. Having a specific use in mind will help stop you from adding
extra space to the shed "just in case."
Small shed plans will show you exactly how small the shed will end up being once you have completed the building
process and will help you avoid giving in to the temptation to build a bigger shed than you need to build.
