Storage Shed Plans - Do You Really Need Them?

If you have experience with building and carpentry, you might be tempted to attempt building your own storage shed without proper storage shed plans. How hard can it be? All you need are a few walls and a roof, right? Here are some of the problems people have run into when they tried to build a storage shed without a well thought out plan in place before the building began:

1. One man built four very sturdy walls, attached a sheet of vinyl for the roof and then found out that he had, essentially built a very large empty box because he had forgotten to build in a doorway. He had no way of getting his tools in or out and had to tear down the roof and one wall before he could fashion a proper door for his shed. This cost him an extra two days in building time!

2. One woman had good intentions and sketched out what she wanted her shed to look like but didn't make sure she had all of the proper building materials in place before she began her project. When it came time to construct her third wall, she ran out of the brackets she needed. Both of her local hardware stores were out of the right size brackets and she had to wait two weeks for a shipment to come in! Her yard featured a very well constructed l-shaped…thing while she waited for her brackets to come in.

3. One husband and wife team built a wonderful little shed and then found out that it wasn't tall enough for them to stand up in or store some of their gardening tools, which defeated the purpose of building the shed in the first place!

Storage shed plans can help you avoid all of these situations. With the proper plans, you can make sure that you have a definite set of steps to follow and that you have all of the materials you need before you begin your project. Good luck!
